ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS:

Puerto Princesa, Philippines

White beaches peppered with palm trees, colourful colonial buildings, and the unique Subterranean River National Park are just a handful of the attractions that keep visitors returning to Puerto Princesa.

Known for its scenic beauty and varied wildlife, Puerto Princesa is truly one of gems of the Philippines. Stretch out and relax on miles of soft sand, explore centuries of history, and discover an array of captivating creatures from fireflies to dolphins.

Having been colonised and occupied by various international entities in the past, Palawan offers a number of historical sights to explore. One such site is Plaza Cuartel. Originally built as a garrison in the late 19th century by the Spanish, Plaza Cuartel went on to become a Japanese military camp in WWII. American prisoners of war were imprisoned here between 1942 and 1944, and today the site has become a memorial to the 150 POWs who were killed in the Palawan Massacre.

One of the most enticing experiences that await in Puerto Princesa is the chance to visit the Subterranean River National Park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s also widely considered one of the wonders of the world, this unique natural attraction is located around 50 miles north of Puerto Princesa. Enter an enigmatic lair of caves and find yourself transported to another world, exploring an underground river surrounded by interesting rock formations. Spot marine creatures, bats, plus a labyrinth of more caves and river channels as you gently float along.

Chan May (tours to Hue or Da Nang), Vietnam

A port call to Chan May offers the chance to experience white sand beaches, historic tombs and one of Vietnam’s most famous waterways: the Perfume River. Whether you choose to travel to Hue or Da Nang you’ll be met with a wealth of sights to see, not to mention scenes of indescribable beauty. Both cities are the gateways to some of Vietnam’s most illustrious treasures; from the Ancient Emperor tombs outside of Hue to the spectacular cave labyrinth of Da Nang’s Marble Mountains. Prepare to find your senses piqued, your soul nourished and your heart captivated by otherworldly sights and spellbinding scenery.

Exploring

An excursion to the historic city of Hue or the beaches of Da Nang is an ideal way to enjoy your port call in Chan May. While the latter offers luminous white sands on its Lang Co and My Khe beach resorts (not unlike those of the Caribbean) Hue is steeped in history offering a deep dive into Vietnam’s imperial past. Of course, time spent in Da Nang also opens up the opportunity to visit Marble Mountain – a series of caves named after the five elements – a must-see pilgrimage site. While Hue’s riverfront promenade, Thien Mu Pagoda and tombs of Ancient Emperors are among the cultural delights awaiting travellers in this centuries’ old city.

Port Louis, Mauritius

As the most populous cultural, commercial and economic hub in Mauritius, Port Louis is a stark contrast to the white sandy beaches that encircle the island - its streets are bustling, loud and always lovably chaotic. Like the rest of Mauritius, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

On your jaunts and strolls through the town you are likely to come across some of the town’s fascinating and well preserved French colonial buildings. Take a look at the Government House, built in 1738, to get a unique insight into the island’s past that cannot be found on the busy, albeit beautiful, beaches.

Delve even deeper into the history of Mauritius by visiting the shrine of French Catholic priest and missionary Père Jacques Désiré Laval – who apparently converted 67,000 people to the Christian faith during 23 years in Mauritius. Today, he is a popular figure for Mauritians of a number of different religions, and miracles have been attributed to visits to his grave.

Durban, South Africa

Durban is a wonderfully multicultural gem of a city, which is home to the largest Indian population outside of India. The Victoria Street Market feels like its epicenter. Mostly just known as ‘Old Vic,’ its colourfully painted stalls are piled with red and yellow spices, while incense adds a heady fragrance to the air. You’ll no doubt find various food outlets offering ‘bunnychow,’ half a loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with curry.

The serene magnificence of the Juma Masjid Mosque is found in this part of the city too, a vast building with golden domes on its minarets, which has stood on this site in some form or other since 1881.

Durban resides on the edge of the KwaZulu-Natal province, and it could be the springboard for an adventure inland to experience the stunning scenery and rich local customs. One excursion could whisk you into the evocatively named Valley of a Thousand Hills, with its rippled ridges and green slopes in the heart of Zulu country. There you can pay a visit to a cultural village for traditional demonstrations of beadwork, spear making, drumming and dancing.

Your ship: Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria will delight you with her special appeal, where elegance and unique features combine seamlessly with outstanding hospitality. You’ll discover an extraordinary way to see the world.

Discover your new favourites.

With time at sea the choice, as always with Cunard, is yours. There is as much or as little to do as you please, with more possibilities than you have time to discover.

Main dining.

Your table is reserved for breakfast, lunch and dinner in one of the sophisticated main restaurants on board. Each is the home of deliciously imaginative menus, exceptional wines and impeccable service.

Starters might include salmon gravlax with poached quail’s egg or a croquette of suckling pig. For your entrée, you might be in the mood for Dover Sole Meunière or a Chateaubriand, perhaps rounded off with a rich bitter chocolate soufflé or a lighter mango panna cotta.

Evening performances.

Every evening during your cruise promises a stellar array of entertainment choices. So, whether you’re in the mood for music, dance performances or even magic shows, prepare to settle into your seat. Watch the resident Royal Cunard Singers & Dancers stage dazzling West End style productions or abridged Shakespeare performances.

We’ve also hand-picked a talented line-up of vocalists and instrumentalists, aerial performers and illusionists, stand-up comedians and variety entertainers.

Live music.

Live music will be an unmistakable signature of every moment on your ship. Our accomplished resident musicians will create an enticing ambience, during relaxing moments and on grand social occasions. The string trio provides a warm welcome on board and melodic accompaniment to Afternoon Tea.

The resident pianist sets an elegant tone to evening dinner drinks in the Commodore Club, and you’ll also find harpists and contemporary bands in public rooms and lounges throughout the ship.

Traditional Afternoon Tea.

This daily ritual occurs between 3.30pm and 4.30pm in the Queens Room, a venue akin to a stately ballroom thanks to ambient lighting and ornate furnishings. Come along and witness the procession of white-gloved waiters before they present an array of treats to your table.

The Afternoon Tea menu changes every day. It includes delectable finger sandwiches with a variety of fillings, scones, and elegant patisserie. Delight in our own Signature Cunard scones, available plain or with fruit, with Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry preserve. You’ll also have several types of Twinings fine leaf tea to choose from, to accompany your refreshments.
