Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Your journey begins the moment you step aboard in vibrant Rio de Janeiro. Amidst the bank of the city famous for its Christ the Redeemer statue and flanked by verdant mountain peaks, the discovery on board Scenic Eclipse awaits. The crew will greet you personally with a warm welcome and a sparkling glass of champagne as you step aboard your spectacular luxury home for the next 11 nights. Meet fellow passengers and acquaint yourself with your Discovery Yacht's luxuriously appointed offerings. Toast the beginning of your adventure from the top deck’s Sky Bar, as you wave farewell to the coast and tap crystal glasses with a hearty “saúde”.

Day 2

Be enchanted by the paradisiacal beaches of Búzios just as they did the iconic French actor Brigitte Bardot. A simple fishing village until the early 1960s, now one of the most upscale areas in Brazil, bedecked with ritzy boutiques, fine restaurants, rambling villas and chic bars. Búzios is a charming grouping of three settlements on a small peninsula, each with its own unique allure.

Once back on board, treat yourself to the finest in French dining at Lumière, maybe starting the night at the venue's Champagne Bar.

Day 3

This natural paradise is the perfect place for sweeping ocean views that meet the rainforest’s green fringe. Wander under magical canopies – 99 per cent of the island is cloaked in lush greenery – with the sounds of birdcall as your soundtrack. Take this opportunity to embrace the pure solitude of your privileged position in this unspoilt landscape. With no cars on the island, it remains pedestrian-friendly, and you’ll almost certainly spot wildlife. Swimming and snorkelling are a must if you can stand to leave the dreamy comfort of your beach towel nap; and with our late-night departure, a sandy sunset will have you sleeping sweet dreams when you’re back on board into your own sanctuary, your spacious ultra-luxury suite.

Day 4

Like something from a picture book, Paraty’s cobbled streets and chaulk-white buildings will have you grabbing your camera. Your friends may never believe you when you tell them just how beautiful this Atlantic jewel is, so better to provide photographic proof, we say. After breakfast on board – perhaps delivered to your ultra-luxury suite for a verandah view – venture into Paraty’s friendly streets to begin your day. Bold blocks of the architectural accents’ primary colour set off the steeply rising mountains, veiled in swaths of emerald leaf cover. Exploring here is a discovery into nature and culture. Be certain to keep your eyes open for the iconic birds that make this area their home, including jocular toucans, kaleidoscopic parrots and flitting hummingbirds.

Day 5

Portuguese for ‘Beautiful Island’, today you'll clearly understand why. After getting photos from your favourite spot on the yacht, disembark for the wonder of this magical destination. Exhibiting craggy volcanic peaks that emerge from heavily forested equatorial jungles, it’s also home to a multitude of waterfalls, flourishing plant species and breathtaking beaches. Watch for wildlife sheltered in this UNESCO-Biosphere reserve, including capuchin monkeys as they perform their gymnastics in the verdant canopy.

Once back on board Scenic Eclipse, consider a visit to the world-class Senses Spa for an indulgent massage^ to wind down before your elegant dinner. With up to 10 exceptional dining experiences, there is a diverse range of gourmet flavours and cuisines.

Day 6

Remote, discrete and the perfect spot for your Discovery excursions, Ponta do Sul is a 28-mile (35-kilometre) nature preserve that’s praised for having the best beaches in the Brazilian state of Parana. With no streets, there are no cars, only pristine forest, the softest sand and narrow trails for discovery. A standout for unrivalled exploration, is that this part of the world has been seen by very few tourists, a unique and remote location just for you. Spend the day exploring the shores, soaking up the sun, or taking advantage of the water sports equipment available. Today may be one to venture beneath the surface on board Scenic Neptune, our custom-designed submersible^ that takes you up to 300m below the sea. Envisage the blue silence of this unforgettable discovery.

Day 7

One of Brazil’s most storied towns, São Francisco do Sul was founded in the early 16th century and shows off its history in hearty cobblestone streets and colonial buildings, many of which are listed on the National Historic Registry. As you sail toward the island, enjoy some of the best views of the town, perhaps from the cosy cocoon of your private cabana, overlooking pastel homes with arched windows and elegant balconies. Home to the only museum of boats in Brazil, the Old Town reveals the country’s seafaring history for you to discover. Nearby endless stretches of beaches and coves exist where you can while away the day floating under the blue skies or scouring the sea for aquatic life. If the weather and permissions allow, seeing the city from the air, suspended above ocean tides and biscuit-coloured beaches from one of our two onboard state-of-the-art Airbus helicopters^ is an extraordinary experience.

Day 8

After a languid sleep-in and a luxurious in-suite breakfast, partake in our Yoga or Pilates classes in one of our indulgent spaces. You'll find wellness options to pamper your body as well as your soul, with our expert instructors. Afterwards, relax in the sauna or  dip into the temperature-controlled plunge pool. Enjoy your time privately or catch up with new found friends to share stories. The Azure Bar and Café is ideal for casual but upscale dining and affords you a sea view like no other. Sip a custom cocktail in one of Scenic Eclipse’s nine all-inclusive bars, including the Whiskey Bar, where more than 100 premium varieties of this beverage available.

Day 9

A day at sea is always a treat when, all-inclusive activities abound. Enhance your culinary skills at Scenic Épicure under the expert tutelage of Scenic’s  masterclass instructors. Learn to prepare, plate and present elegant dishes while having fun and socialising at the same time. If you’re looking for some quiet reflection or a bit of respite, nestle into one of the swinging nest chairs on Deck 7. With a freshly squeezed juice or a refreshing spritz depending on your mood, enjoy the expansive sea views with your complimentary binoculars found in your suite.

Day 10

Since the early 20th century, this sun-drenched peninsula has enjoyed the reputation of being an elite favourite. Referred to as the ‘Monaco of the South’, Punta del Este’s iconic cityscape and incredible beaches attract visitors from the world over. Playa Brava, one of Punta’s main beaches, is home to the renowned sculpture of fingertips that emerge from the soft golden sand, called ‘La Mano’. Among other sculptures around the city, the art galleries and museums give Punta del Este an artsy, eclectic atmosphere that makes it a stand-out destination.

Day 11

An emerging wine region, Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay, with many buildings and dwellings holding architectural significance. The Plaza de la Independencia, once home to a Spanish fortress is the centre of the city, leads to gorgeous Art Deco structures and landmarks including the neoclassical Solís Theatre which opened in 1856. Visitors will find themselves amongst a vibrant town full of vim and vigour with musical theatre and cosy tango bars right next door to one another.

Day 12

Latin passion and European romance spark a dynamic combination that makes Buenos Aires the dynamic city it renown for. Today we end our journey here, in one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan cities in the world. There’s much to discover, so after bidding your new friends and the friendly Scenic Eclipse crew farewell, take some time to explore the great Argentinian culture and cuisine.
